Not Sure Which Welder Fits Your Application? Start With a Free Micro-Weld Evaluation

Section 179 · Tax year 2026

PUT A NEW WELDER TO WORK. EXPLORE YOUR 2026 TAX SAVINGS.

Qualifying equipment may be eligible for a full Section 179 deduction, even when financed. For calendar-year taxpayers, place it in service by December 31, 2026.

PLAN YOUR EQUIPMENT PURCHASE IN THREE STEPS

Confirm your application, delivery schedule and tax eligibility.

Step 1

Confirm the right welder

New part or application: send your parts for a free micro-weld evaluation. Ask our team about current evaluation turnaround and the recommended date to send your parts.

Same parts, more capacity: skip the evaluation and request a quote.

Step 2

Buy or finance

Financed equipment may qualify for Section 179. Ask our team about pricing and current lead times, and leave time for delivery and setup.

Step 3

Installed and ready by Dec 31

"Placed in service" means installed and ready for use, not just ordered or paid for. Your tax advisor claims it on IRS Form 4562.

Estimate your 2026 tax savings

Start from a system or enter your quoted price, then pick your federal tax rate.

Start from a system

Pass-through businesses (most LLCs, S corporations and sole proprietors): the deduction flows to the owners, so use the owner's bracket.

Enter a price from $0 to $2,560,000. This illustration does not calculate your eligibility or remaining annual deduction allowance.

Two ways to get started

Either way, we'll confirm the lead time so you know whether your system can be installed by December 31.

New part or application? Start with a free evaluation

Send us your parts, even if you already run a Sunstone welder. We'll weld them as a proof of concept, recommend a system and configuration, and confirm the lead time. Ask our team about current turnaround and when to send your parts.

Adding capacity? Request a quote

Need another system for parts you already weld with Sunstone? Skip the evaluation. We'll send pricing and lead time, and you can ask about financing.

Common questions

How long does Sunstone's sample evaluation take?

Contact our team for current evaluation turnaround and a recommended send-by date, allowing time for ordering, shipping and installation. Adding another system for parts you already weld with Sunstone? You can skip the evaluation and request a quote.

What counts as "placed in service" for Section 179?

The IRS says equipment is placed in service when it's ready and available for its specific use. For a welding system, that means installed and ready to run by December 31, even if production hasn't started. Ordered, paid for, or still in the crate doesn't count.

Does financed or leased equipment qualify for Section 179?

Purchased equipment can qualify even when financed. Lease treatment depends on tax ownership and contract terms; a lease label alone does not establish eligibility. Have your tax advisor review the agreement.

Does Section 179 apply to used equipment?

Purchased used equipment can qualify if it meets Section 179 requirements. Related-party purchases and certain other acquisitions are excluded. Ask your tax advisor to confirm eligibility.

What if our Section 179 deduction is bigger than our business income?

The Section 179 deduction is limited by taxable income from active trades or businesses. Amounts disallowed by that income limit may carry forward. Ask your advisor whether bonus depreciation is appropriate.

What is the Section 179 limit for 2026?

For tax years beginning in 2026, the maximum deduction is $2,560,000. It is reduced dollar for dollar when qualifying property placed in service exceeds $4,090,000. Business-use and taxable-income limits also apply.

General information, not tax advice. Confirm eligibility with your tax advisor. December 31 timing assumes a calendar tax year. Equipment generally must be used more than 50% for business; the deduction reflects qualifying business use.
